In search of the first kiss

In search of the first kiss

I took a bend in an unknown stretch,
It went into a farmhouse with haystacks all around,
Could this be here I got my first kiss from a pair of lips,
So juicy so intent so warm and content!

Ah! I am sure it is in this farmhouse
Could I ask the owner if they knew where it was?

I went looking for it and almost ran to insanity,
People in my town say I am seventy,
These years for me passed in less than seven minutes,
Here I am off my heaven running in search of the missing kiss!

Ah! I am sure it is in this farmhouse
Could I ask the owner if they knew where it was?

The kiss was so light so deep and complete inside,
It must be hanging in a tree by the side
If I shook those haystacks maybe I could find,
The kiss I never forgot was so true and kind!

Ah! I am sure it is in this farmhouse
Could I ask the owner if they knew where it was?

Move on, don’t hold on to you past,
What weird things they say,
I keep looking for as long it can last,
Until I get it back from my first kissing day!

Revisiting some nursery rhymes

This is a very modest attempt to change some nursery rhymes which appear unnecessarily cruel. I am sorry to use the word 'cruel' and I would be deeply sorry if it hurts anybody because we have all grown up with them enjoying these rhymes. I have not written the original one as these rhymes are known to everybody.

John and Jane
Yes papa!
Eating sugar?
No papa!
Have these apples
Yes papa!
Love you children
Ha! ha! ha!

[I wonder if there's any need to teach children how to lie [being smart] to their parents and get away]

Humpty dumpty sat on a chair,
Humpty dumpty sang with love and care.
All the king's forces all the king's men,
Sang along with him over and over again!!

[Why should children laugh at the fall of Humpty dumpty and at the fact that he couldn't be put together again…is this not violence!]

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water,
Jack came down when he was done
And Jill came dancing after.

With them they bring a bird that sings,
It fell off from a tree,
They cared for it to cure its wings,
Until it flew, was free.

[Children are taught to laugh at other’s miseries…how long can we go on laughing at Jack breaking his crown... if only we could help children learn empathy].

While I respect the popularity of these rhymes, I have questions on their relevance in times where there is no dearth of torture. Children are disproportionately exposed to a lot of violence and chicaneries. I feel it is necessary to re-tell these otherwise beautiful nursery rhymes in a constructive way. This is just a modest step.

Relax, it's about animals

Relax, it's about animals

Tiger and Leopard stare at each other
Speak with their eyes
Who is this foreigner?
I am more powerful you better not be near

There’s no foreigner no one’s overthrown
The world is but a steady rolling stone

Rabbit and Sheep look at each other
Speak with their teeth
Who is this stranger?
I am more tender than you my dear

There’s no stranger no one’s overthrown
The world is but a steady rolling stone

Lion and Bull throw a glance
Speak with their brains
Who is this outsider?
I am more intellectual than you think you are

There’s no outsider no one’s overthrown
The world is but a steady rolling stone

Dove and Pigeon with a flying touch
Speak with their wings
Who is this intruder?
I am more peaceful than you could ever care

There’s no intruder no one’s overthrown
The world is but a steady rolling stone

Cuckoo and Lark up in the sky
Speak through their beaks
Who is this invader?
I am more musical than you could ever hear

There’s no invader no one’s overthrown
The world is but a steady rolling stone

Popping up

Popping up

When I am going to work
Why don't I see you
Spread all around
When I am at work
Why don't I listen to you
Trying to whisper all over my ears
When I return I don't feel you
You are still missed why is this

When I fight with people around
Bleed and kill, snatch and deceive
Cheat and skirmish
You are there I know
Popping up and down
In and out of me
Yet I don't listen to see you

To the blind your gifted eyes are in the dark
In a moment comes that little sight
And goes
Don't keep me under the blanket
Open it for me, us
So we could listen, feel and see in the blank

A leaf that dropped

A leaf that dropped

A leaf dropped before me…
Full of scribbles I did not understand;
The language, the letters were different,
I sat by the lake and held it for long…
It was yellowed by time I tried to smell;
Who could the writer be I wondered!

Where did the leaf come from,
I saw afar a jhalmuriwala and thought it might
Have been jhalmuri he sold on;
I smelt again but there as no trace or any morsel left
Of food in it…but there were thoughts
That ran in lines from one side to the other.

It seemed old yet words were trembling,
The ink was blue that melted roughly in between
Like raindrops.

Out of mind

Out of mind

I must be out of my mind,
To think that to me I was so unkind,
Looks borrowed from the outer world,
Have mirrored and judged with bruising words.

I must be out of my mind,
To know that I could never find,
The heart that lies and taps within,
Was there with me through thick and thin.

I have to tell my friends the same,
Let them pass through fame or shame,
To take some time to pause re-wind,
To talk befriend their winsome mind.

Challenge

There is challenge
To take the l l e out
That's what it's about

The first line

First line comes as is
Rest try to arrive to be
Struggling butterflies

similar

similar

I am sad not happy
Saying thus,
I hold the entire world
In my hand.

Sadness is a common gene
We have in our veins,
What an omnipresent morphine
That spreads from our brains.

Irrelevant

Irrelevant

Pelting a stone
Melts into a river...
Flowers showered on a stone
Fall without shiver...
A little shift in sound
For the notes to sing!
Sense floats above beneath around
Until with its wing
It searches for a ground.

It's about irrelevance... like throwing a stone in water in order to hurt..
