Borderless day

We want an interdependence day
When borders melt and differences cease,
We live without fear, with ease
We meet, smile, laugh and play.

Days that talk of the past
In the flags that flutter in the sky,
Are gone, not to overcast
Us anymore with anger and wry.

We belong to the world
Patriots of countries we’re out
Of the orders so bold
Cross limits strong and stout
With a simple flag that dances to say,
We want a borderless day.

Wars have gone into the past
Now it’s peace that’s to stay,
We want interdependence to last
With a single flag on the borderless day!

  1. In order to comment, I think that the reader need to be at least somehwere near to the level of maturity, experience and expressions of Supratik (Sen), which i'm not. But yet, what i can say, the borderless day poem is indeed the right expression of "peace" & "tranquility" in today's world of complexity. Supratik Gupta

  2. Supratik,

Its very sublime. Very nicely written indeed. Have you thought of compiling your poems into a book? Give it a thought, I am sure it will work for you.

  5. Dear Mr.SEN,

Let me apologize for my very late reply. Actually I work in the EMEA shift, and by 10PM I reach my place then I get only a bit of time to do very important work hardly get any time to do any reading-writing for myself. I do all these things during my week-end.
I’ve great appreciation for your passion of writing and secondly for writing poetries. It’s so rare to find someone who loves taking pain of composing poetries. It requires great skills, patience and resilience of putting the thoughts into words; and that too should sound musical when put on paper. I do love writing but I only write articles on national, international political affairs or a film review. So, I realize the degree of dedication is required for such art; but once it takes its form on paper, it gives ultimate pleasure.
Mr. SEN, I’ve a very political way of looking on any text or piece of literature. Your poem, “Borderless World” is a very beautifully written piece. It reflects that you’re a very optimistic person who believes in a borderless being governed by interdependence of each nation-state on other-one. This is a very wish full thinking which every artist, writer and poets want to have. When you say:

    We belong to the world
    Patriots of countries we’re out
    Of the orders so bold
    Cross limits strong and stout
With a simple flag that dances to say,
    We want a borderless day.

Do you hint towards growing trend of globalization which propagates the theory of borderless world where only one market exists? Or, do you speak about a political borderless world which is found in European Union today where people from 27 member states move freely within the EU territory?

So far as your last part is concerned. It appears to emphasize on a world devoid of war which is true that in today’s’ post cold war world we don’t hear any news of war between countries but rather within a country , a kind of ethnic or civil war like situation develops here and there. In India, Maoist movement is going on, in various Latin American and African countries such intra-state war is going on.

Wars have gone into the past
Now it’s peace that’s to stay,
    We want interdependence to last
With a single flag on the borderless day!

In civilized world today though the military confrontation may not exist but economic rivalry exist very much, and it will only grow murkier with each passing year. We’ve to live with this as it’s a byproduct of our globalization.

I extend my best wishes for your beautiful writing. It encourages others to write, and to create a charming world around away from the cruel, unjust and boring world around.

    Kind regards,

    Ajitabh DAS

    1. Dear Mr. Das,

I am overwhelmed by your comment. Through my poems, all I am trying to do is reach out to people who think it is time to change. I will continue to write on this without blaming anyone, by accepting our situations as they are. Nothing in the world is more powerful than love. It is this energy that I am trying to tap like a pied piper who is wounded with a broken pipe. Therefore, he needs healing now. How does he get that? He gets that only with the strength of people's love. I will go with it even if I am disapproved by clever and intelligent people. I love them too.

We measure a country's achievement through economic and technological growths broadly speaking. In my opinion, the parametres should change. It is true that leaders have to protect their respective countries, they just have to. So we cannot really blame them. However, it is time when all the leaders of the world sat and discussed their respective insecurities. The objective of such holistic discussions could be to restore peace into this wounded world. That will be the real achievement.

We can only cross borders or limits when we respect them.

Thank you once again for your comment.
